A Small Gap Before Installation Is Normal You may notice a small gap between the gate frame and latch when you first unpack the gate. This is part of the pressure-mount design. As the four tension bolts are adjusted evenly against the mounting surfaces, the gap gradually closes and the latch comes into alignment.
